Poor Mary waking up to 8° in PA though — that kind of cold hurts your face when you step outside. I know you’re extra grateful for St. Marys sunshine right now.
I love that you’ve switched into “productive cozy mode.” Winter is prime time for:
touch-up paint
trim refreshes
baseboards (so satisfying when they’re clean)
all the little house things we ignore the rest of the year
And FIVE bags of leaves before the cold hit? That is championship-level yard prep. Nicely done.
Your window boxes sound like a brilliant workaround. That side-of-the-house heat will fry even the most determined flowers, so using faux greens and blooms is honestly the secret weapon for sunny exposures. With good fillers and varying heights, they can look just as lush as real plantings — and zero watering guilt in August.
