Hope you're staying cool during this intense heat wave! A couple of vendors I work with have decided to take the next few days off for safety reasons—and honestly, I can’t blame them. I can’t imagine being on a roof or doing heavy outdoor work in these temperatures. I've been getting out early in the mornings to tackle some weeding (because of course, the heat doesn’t seem to bother the weeds one bit). John’s been out walking too, but he starts around 7 a.m.—otherwise, it’s the treadmill upstairs for him.
We’ve had some wonderful news—Mom’s house is finally under contract! She listed just before Thanksgiving last year, but then her town was hit by back-to-back hurricanes. While her home didn’t sustain any damage, much of the downtown area was hard-hit, with many businesses closing or undergoing long-term repairs. It’s been a tough market, so this contract is a big relief. It will be a huge weight off Mom’s shoulders and will help us all fully settle in here in St. Marys.
I’m on the lookout for a new project now. I may finally have to face the long-overdue task of painting the garage—once the weather cools down a bit. Until then, just trying to stay productive in small doses.
And a friendly reminder—please check in on any neighbors who might be vulnerable in this heat. A quick call or knock could mean a lot.
