This is going to be a epic 4th of July. Very much looking forward to the events. Don't forget blueberry picking is going on at Vacuna Farms. Check their FB page for picking days.
So Allen's Tree Service (Logan) came yesterday in that truly brutal heat and took down our two failing pear trees :( We had lost a second large branch. It was hard to loose such beautiful trees, but seeing the inside confirmed they were dying from the inside out. Mom wants to do to a nursery to find replacement trees. Do you know of a large nursery nearby? It should be interesting. Otherwise, barbeque is on the menu (angus burgers). Still need to pick up corn and John likes to make the potato salad. That is because I like egg in my potato salad and he likes mustard and no egg. We both agree on the vinegar. My mother prefers German hot potato salad with onion and cooked in bacon drippings. Great stuff.

The Kiwanis Club of St. Marys Independence Day Festival celebration offers hometown charm plus a parade and fireworks over the St. Marys River. Other activities include a 5K and 10K Run, arts & crafts vendors, and entertainment throughout the day at the St. Marys Waterfront Park. The days highlight will be the Firework Display over the St. Marys River in downtown St. Marys. This event is organized and planned by the St. Marys Kiwanis Club. The Fireworks Display is brought to you by the Kiwanis Club of St. Marys and the St. Marys Convention & Visitors Bureau with support of the City of St. Marys.

7:30am ~ 5K and 10K Runs Start & Finish - St. Marys Methodist Church
8am ~ Kids Fun Run Start - St. Marys Methodist Church
9am - 10pm ~ Arts & Crafts and Food Vendors + Kids Fun Zone
10am ~ Parade - Starts at Meeting Street & Heads up Osborne
11:15am - 12:15pm ~ Grimsley's Fighting Arts - Waterfront Pavilion Stage
1pm - 2pm ~Saltwater Performing Arts at the Park Gazebo
2:30pm ~ 3:30pm - The Heirs Park Gazebo
6pm - 9:00pm ~ Music - The Bluff 5 Band
7:30pm - 10pm ~ Independence Day River Cruise
9:30pm- 9:55pm ~ Fireworks Display Over St. Marys River (1st Count-down Shell 9:15pm; 2nd & 3rd Count-down Shell 9:25pm)
INDEPENDENCE DAY RIVER CRUISE
Board the Cumberland Queen II at the NPS Dock at 7:15pm/ Departs 7:30pm.
After a cruise on the river to Cumberland Sound you will return to the St. Marys Waterfront Dock for the fireworks display. ~Small Coolers are allowed.
