FUN THINGS GOING ON - Lots of Bands

Greetings!

Well, my Cleveland Browns were crushed on their first pre season game against the Chicago Bears.  Not a great start to the season.  Let's hope things pick up this weekend.  We will be celebrating John's 70th birthday this Saturday.  Our daughter and a friend are driving down to visit for the week and we are all going to Universal Studio's for 3 days.  Mom did not feel up to this trip, but there will be a shopping expedition to the Town Center later in the week.

We went to the Home and Landscaping show in JAX last weekend.  It was the smallest show we have attended, but to be fair, there was no admission fee, only parking.  We found several very useful vendors we are getting quotes from for work on the house.  We contracted for CoolVu to put window film on some of our west facing windows including around the front door.  So far it has made a noticeable difference in the interior temperature in the house.  It will be interesting to see how it impacts the bill at the end of the month.

Update, the deer are now grazing on all of my liriope:(  It is still alive, but stubby.  The wildflower seeds I scattered, after having germinated so early, seem to be not doing much of anything at the moment.  Hopefully in the Spring there will be some movement.  I washed my quilt top with Borax in the tub yesterday.  The water was surprisingly brown, given it has been in storage for about 40 years.  It did brighten up considerably.  I have found a functional backing, but am still trying to figure out the edging which will be tricky with the uneven edging.  The fabric is thin, so I have been thinking about doing a zig-zag stitch on a maybe linen edging fabric for stability.  I need to go back to the quilting group at the Senior Center to talk it through.  My aim is to hang it over the bed in the guest room as a kind of headboard.  It is rather large blank wall and I think the colors will work well.  What do you think?

Best regards,

Cathy

What makes Jim's journey especially inspiring is that he didn't begin writing until his 80s. Today, he is the author of three books and continues to share the lessons, experiences, and wisdom he has gathered over nearly a century of life.
This engaging program will explore topics many seniors can relate to, including:
• Finding purpose and fulfillment after retirement
• Staying active, curious, and engaged as we age
• The importance of friendships, relationships, and community
• Preserving family stories and personal histories
• Lessons learned from military service, business, and life
• Why "retirement isn't retiring—it's evolving"
The program will include storytelling, audience Q&A, and an optional book signing featuring Jim's newest book, How I Found Love: Stories of Romance and Relationships.
Come be inspired by a remarkable life and discover why it's never too late to start a new chapter.
