Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a fast-paced tale of ambition, power, and fate. When Scottish war hero Macbeth encounters three mysterious witches, he learns a prophecy that he will one day be king. Spurred on by his cunning and ruthless wife, he murders his way to the throne—only to be consumed by paranoia, guilt, and madness. Macbeth* - A brave and rash Scottish general. Consumed with dark fears about the future, his rapid rise to power fractures his sanity; Intense, magnetic, and psychologically unravelling as he races, headfirst, towards self-destruction.
Lady Macbeth - Macbeth’s wife and a deeply ambitious woman. Her relationship with Macbeth is intense. She is a Master of appearances and manipulation however, she is haunted by guilt and descends into madness.
The Three Witches* - three mysterious, supernatural and “weird” sisters who give Macbeth prophecies about his future. They are prophetic figures; Eerie, cryptic, and stylized. Strong movement and/or vocal skills welcome
Banquo* - A Thane of Scotland who fights beside Macbeth and an equally brave soldier. He too receives a prophecy from the witches, which turns Macbeth against him and puts him in harm’s way. A threat without action
Duncan - King of Scotland. He is the model of a virtuous, trusting and benevolent ruler. Very charismatic but blind to the ambitions and plots that surround him
Malcolm - Duncan’s son who is named heir to the throne and flees to England after his father’s murder. He is intelligent and sensitive, but resolute and has a steely strength hidden.
Donalbain - Junior royal; wary, quick to flee, and savvy beyond his years
Macduff* - a Thane of Scotland and adversary of Macbeth’s. Macduff swears personal revenge against the tyrant and is brimming with suppressed rage.
Lennox*, Ross*, Angus*, Menteith*, Caithness*- Advisors, agents, or military officials. They are political, cautious and capable of shifting allegiances
Seyton - Macbeth’s manservant and confidant, unspeaking loyalty with an ominous presence
Porter - A gatekeeper; Drunken, cynical and a master of dark comedy
The Murderers* - Hired assassins; desperate, brutal, and expendable
Hecate* - leader of the witches; elegant and controlling with a commanding presence
Lady Macduff - Macduff’s wife, strong, grounded and protective, who is confused by her husband’s abandonment.
Macduff’s son - a young child who attempts to comfort his mother and tries to save her
Doctor - a physician of the court who is called upon to treat Lady Macbeth’s declining sanity, but is baffled by her sleepwalking and delirium.
Other named roles include; Siward*, Young Siward, Old Man, Fleance, Captain*, Apparitions* Other Ensemble roles include: soldiers*, gentlewomen, servants, attendants, lords
*indicates a role that may require complex movement

Auditions: October 4, 1-3pm, October 7, 7-9pm
Rehearsal Begins: October 18
Tech Week: January 12-15 & 21-22
Show Dates: January 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25
A rich ensemble – lords, ladies, murderers, soldiers, messengers, and more—every role contributes to the suspense and action.
With intense battles, chilling supernatural encounters, and some of Shakespeare’s most famous speeches, Macbeth is an actor’s dream: bold, emotional, and unforgettable.
Come audition and be part of a story filled with prophecy, betrayal, madness, and the ultimate fight between good and evil.
Macbeth is famously known as “The Scottish Play” because of the superstition that speaking its name in a theater brings bad luck. Legends say Shakespeare used real spells, cursing the show with onstage accidents and disasters. To this day, actors still perform little rituals if someone slips up and says the title aloud.
Dare to audition for the play with a reputation as thrilling as the story
itself? Full character breakdown attached.
