Autumn Greetings!
I hope you are well prepared for Trick-or-Treat and other spooky upcoming events. I am looking forward to the Scarecrow stroll. John has already insured we had adequate candy supplies for Halloween. Like everyone else, we have been struggling with all the rain we have received recently. As our elderly neighbor's pump has recently failed, we have their water draining into our yard along with our share. We have a quote for remediation which we will be starting after we return from North Carolina next week. It's not a small number but necessary. The sad news is that John's younger brother, Chris, passed away last week from complications from knee replacement surgery. It was sudden and unexpected. I will be out of town next week for the funeral. Your prayers are appreciated during this period of loss. It is interesting how different people deal with grief. John is spending long hours on the phone with every family and friend contact until we can see everyone in person next week. I am frantically cleaning and sewing. I have gotten projects done that have been on the back burner for years. I am close to being finished with this quilting project. I did not sew this quilt top. I purchased it back in 1977 at a craft fair in Ohio and have been dragging it around with me ever since. It is all hand stitched and a bit frail. I have been working with the quilting group at the St. Marys senior center for advice and guidance on how to stabilize the textile for display. I intend to fold it over a curtain rod at the head of a bed in our guest room. Today I am hoping to start pinning it to the new backing in preparation for stitching (gently) to the backing just for stabilizing. I am not "quilting" it. It is too thin for something that aggressive. It is in good enough condition for display.
